Amedeo's isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a tradition. Since 1963, we’ve been serving up authentic Italian flavors with a side of NC State pride. Our founder, Amedeo (Dick) DeAngelis, was more than just a restaurateur—he was a former NC State football player whose love for the game and great food inspired what has become a beloved Wolfpack gathering spot. Located right next to campus, Amedeo’s has been a home away from home for students, alumni, and NC State fans for generations.

Our owner/operator, David Harris, is a seasoned restaurateur with a proven record of revitalizing and expanding restaurant brands. A Fayetteville, North Carolina native, David attended East Carolina University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree while participating in football and Army ROTC. After graduation, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and placed in the Individual Ready Reserve following military budget reductions.
David launched his restaurant career with Steak and Ale, quickly rising through the ranks to become one of the youngest general managers in the country. He later held management roles at TGI Fridays and Outback Steakhouse before returning to Raleigh to serve as general manager at Kanki. Partnering with his college roommate, Rodney Byrd, David purchased Remington Grill and successfully expanded the concept to 12 locations.
Throughout his career, David has acquired and revitalized several restaurant ventures, including Amedeo’s Italian Restaurant, Sammy’s Tap & Grill, Vieni Ristobar, and Vivo Ristorante. His success stems from a leadership philosophy centered on building strong operational systems, developing exceptional teams, and fostering sustainable growth. David also brings expertise in managing minority shareholders and forming strategic partnerships to support long-term business expansion.
Everything was so good here! I ordered the Chicken Rustico and my husband ordered the Pack Pasta. The ingredients were really fresh and our waitress was super sweet!
