Amedeo ‘Dick’ DeAngelis came to NCSU from the family home in Reading, PA in 1954 on a football scholarship. He missed home cooking and got the idea of opening a small restaurant featuring some of his mother’s and grandmother’s homemade Italian recipes.

In 1963, Amedeo’s, a restaurant seating 12 opened on Western Boulevard. Throughout the years and with his mother, his wife Betty, children, grandchildren and loyal employees joining the business, Amedeo’s has developed into Raleigh’s Finest Italian Family Restaurant.
